Orissa rode on a century each by captain Shiv Sudar Das and Sanjay Raul to power Orissa to an innings and 156-run win over Tripura on the penultimate day of their four-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match at Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium in Agartala today.
This was overall 35th win and 18th by innings margin in a total of 176 Ranji Trophy matches for Orissa and their 14th victory, 11 by innings margin in 16 matches against Tripura. The thumping win fetched Orissa eight points, while Tripura drew blank.
Put into bat, host Tripura were bundled out for a paltry total of 114 with Sanjay Satpathy and Jagannath Das capturing four and three wickers respectively for Orissa. In reply, Orissa declared at 378 for four to take a first-innings lead of 264 runs.
Das slammed 178 (260 balls, 25x4, 3x6) and in the process passed 3000 runs in Ranji Trophy matches. Raul hit a 212-ball 134, which included 11 boundaries and two sixes. Tripura suffered the innings defeat as they folded up 108 in the second innings. For Orissa, Jagannath Das was most successful bowler with four wickets to his name, while Debasis Mohanty and Raul scalped three and two wickets respectively.
